MOUTH AND NOSE BENEATH THE SURFACE
[/color]MOUTH AND NOSE BENEATH THE SURFACE
EYES: Light brown
HAIR: Long, dark brown, soft, a bit wavy
WEIGHT: 190lbs
HEIGHT: 6'1”
APPEARANCE:With a very pale skin tone, D could probably almost pass as a ghost is the observer did not look close enough. His hair is quite long, going down his back a bit, and quite wavy and soft. It is dark brown, able to blend into the shadows decently enough. His eyes are a light brown color, but always very serious looking and guarded. He dies not like to express himself so much and will instead try to scare someone off with his silent stare so that he will be left alone. He has a slight build, having muscles underneath his clothing from years of fighting.
D can usually be found wearing all black, strong armor going over his softer clothing, a cloak wrapping around him and a large brimmed black hat atop his head. He wears strong, heavy boots on his feet which are the same color as the rest of his dark wardrobe. If he is not on a job of some sort and is wearing regular clothing he usually likes to stick with long sleeves and long pants, casual dress, with a nice coat over and a hat on his head. He will wear dark colors here as well with nice dressy shoes to go along with his style. Always around his neck is a pendent holding a blue gem that he always keeps with him. It hold great meaning to him personally and he does not part with it so easily.
WEAPONRY:D's favored style is a close combat style with bladed weapons, preferably a long bladed sword. This sword is carried around on his back when he has it. D also carries around smaller bladed weapons such as knives and a pair of daggers. When he cannot carry his sword around he might use his daggers to fight, though he is not as good with them. The knives he might carry, though can be used as a last minute weapon, are more likely to be used as something like utility.
EQUIPMENT:D keeps little on his person aside from the clothing on his back, any armor that he may have on, and his blades. He does keep a cellphone, keys to his apartment, and a wallet with a bit of money on him most of the time.
ABILITY:D can go longer without drinking blood before he becomes desperate for it as since he was sired he had been trying to not drink blood as much as possible so his body has become more efficient in utilizing the smaller amount that he does get for himself.

LIKES:

- Sleeping and dreaming
- Peaceful, quiet days
- His guns
- The night sky
- Autumn
- Unique and interesting things
- Shadows
- High Places
DISLIKES:
- Crowded Areas
- Feeling Guilty
- Nightmares
- Bright Places
- The Color Yellow
- Untrustworthy people
- Abstract Art
- Overly Hyper Active People
- Noise
- Summer Time
STRENGTHS:
- Another strength is his ability to listen. D is the type of person that will listen in on those around him without much thought. This gives him a lot of perspective about the world around him, and also helps him decide if he would want to participate in that world. He finds that listening is an important skill as it helps him to learn about everything and everyone around him. By learning about everyone he can better predict them without seeing or even better understand why they do what they do even in a vision. He can choose whether or not he wants to interfere with something based on if he thinks it would make an impact of some sort in a way he would want.
- D has a strong will, though it may not be apparent at first. Often times when his will is challenged he often has to search for the strength inside him, but it is there waiting to be used. Often times emotional damage takes D more time to get over, as with a lot of people, but he tends to be able to bounce back with resilience, though he may be a bit grumpy and stoic for a few days. Of course this is probably more due to his detached nature and his tendencies from getting too close to anyone or anything around him. It also helps that he might know when he should get close to someone or not and how things might just turn out, though he does know that the future is not set in stone and things could still change.
- D is very secretive in most of his thoughts. He has always kept to herself and by doing so has less risk of leaving himself open for others. Keeping to himself and having his secretive nature has helped him to hide from people through his expressionless face, though his body language would often speak louder than any words he probably would not say or emotion his face would not express. Still, he would like to think that being able to keep his feelings from his face would help in forcing those people who were annoying or overly hyper away from her.
- Being able to pick up on other people's feelings through body language and facial expressions is something that most people can do unconsciously. It is through observation that D is able to accomplish this with a bit more accuracy than normal. He only shows this ability when actually conversing with someone though, so it is not immediately apparent. He prefers to observe rather than act which has given him knowledge of the behaviors of other people and how people tend to act either alone or as a group.
- D has a very strong streak of determination in him. If he sets his mind to doing something he will not stop trying until his task is complete. It is usually a good thing not to give up, and it often can make one stronger in the end. By never giving up he can often learn more about what it is he is doing unlike those that just quit. Though he does not like getting things wrong he does know that the greatest knowledge can often be achieved through the mistakes he makes.
WEAKNESSES:
- His apathetic nature could also be a problem. Though D has the ability to help people there is the problem that he probably does not care enough unless it concerns him. Sometimes he might choose to help someone seemingly for profit of him, though if it really is for profit or not is a mystery to most people. This nature might also get in the way of making friends with other people, though if someone manages to get past that part of him then they would probably find that he is a good person that does care about his friends or those he finds himself close to. The major problem seems to be getting past that first, his detached nature and blunt attitude also not helping matters when it comes down to it.
- D tends to come off as rude many times which is a social weakness he has. He is often blunt and seems to disregard the feelings of those he cares nothing for. Often times this can lead to disagreements, arguments, and an all out fight. It could also be the reason that D would prefer to just not talk to those people that annoy him or those he dislikes at first glance. Even to his friends he can be a bit blunt, which can be a good thing and a bad thing as they would at least know that he was being completely honest with them, though perhaps not in the best way he could have done it. All in all, he has no tact.
- Being secretive has it's downfalls as well. D has great trust issues between other people and himself. He has a tendency not to trust anyone, at least until he gets to know them very well. Even then his trust is limited, it's limits depending on the person and how well he knows him or her. These trust issues will prevent him from developing well socially, perhaps setting him back in this respect, and from experiencing new, and possibly better, things. As long as he does not trust people he will be alone in the world, something he believes he can only have.
- Determination can also be a weakness as well. Never giving up can sometimes be detrimental to his health as sometimes it can put D in real danger. If he is dedicated to getting a hold of something and someone is in his way he would fight, even if it may kill him. Still, coming to that point is a bit hard for D because whatever it is would have to be very important to him for D to dedicate himself in such a way that his very life would be so much in jeopardy. For the most part any job he takes these days may not be as difficult as placing his life in danger as his hunting days seem to be over since the Numot can no longer trust him.
- Unknown to many people there are lonely feelings lurking inside of D, amidst the negative emotions that he carries deep within. That part of him longs to be accepted by his those he use to call friends as the rejection he feels does hurt him terribly and now that they are all long gone it haunts him as well. Still, he knows that he cannot change who or what he is now so he continues on living like that. This is a weakness as no one will ever get as close to him from the way he is going, and they will not find out his true feelings about somethings so the situation will never get resolved.
QUIRKS/HABITS:
- D sometimes has a habit of thinking his thoughts aloud to himself when he thinks he is alone.
- D secretly likes cats and would like to own a ragdoll cat.
- D has made it a habit to watch the stars every night he can for an hour or so.
FEARS:
- Dying Feeling Rejected
- Finding that Everything He has Done Means Nothing
- Someone Close to Him Dying
GOALS:
- To Find and Kill the Vampire Who Turned Him
- To Survive in a World that Rejects Him
PERSONALITY
D may seem a bit cold at first glance, but he has a warm heart. He tends to think things through logically, but knows when emotions are needed. To those that are close to him, he extends friendship that he had never done since he was child or an adolescence. However, even with his change of heart old habits die hard. He can come off as a loner, but he is not really, he's just quiet from his years of solitude and being so absorbed in his work. It has mostly been because of his slow change over the years that he has grown quiet. Before he was changed he was a bit more outgoing and active. After his change he grew angry and misguided before things calmed down and he was left with a subdued attitude.
His presence in a room can have a chilling affect, sometimes from fear of what he is, other times it's just the way some people feel about him at first glance. Sometimes they are totally oblivious of him. If they do manage to gather courage into conversing with him, he is polite and seemingly impassive. However, he is clear and precise when explaining things and has a good memory of what happens or what someone tells him. He will explain what his opinions are when needed, he is not afraid to do that. However,if his opinion does not matter in something then he will not even bother. For the most part he only does what is needed of him, mostly nothing more and nothing less. Sometimes, though not often, he will give more then is required. However, giving more is only done in certain situations such as romance or something really important.

OF A WORLD JUST OUT OF VIEW

MOTHER: Mina Harker, deceased
FATHER: Alucard Harker, deceased
SIBLINGS: None
OTHER: None
PLACE OF BIRTH: D was born just outside the city of London, England
RESIDENCE: D owns a cheap apartment in the less traveled part of the city, away from tourists and anyone that might care.
HISTORY:
D was born just outside of London, on a farm which his grandfather had worked hard to build up and passed along to his father and mother. It was here he spent much of his young years of life, learning about how to plant and harvest from the Earth as well as take care of some of the animals. He was especially fond of the farm cats and the horses, one of the horses having foaled when he was around six years of age. As he grew older he learned how to ride and take care of the horses, hoping that one day he would be able to breed his own horses and perhaps make a living off of that if possible since everyone needed a horse. This dream would not come to light as his father died of illness when he was almost twelve years of age and his mother was left with little money to keep the farm going.
Mina sold the farm to her uncle, who was willing to buy it at a very low price. They were soon sent off of the farm with what little belongings they had. Mina took herself and D to London, living on the streets for a short time before going into a work house. D was separated from his mother there, being far too old to need her constant presence. It was here that he learned the life of a child in the workhouse, receiving any education he did not already have and then being put to work. He worked hard and quietly, knowing that complaints could lead to a good thrashing and any general naughtiness or disobedience could lead to beatings, starving for a day or two, or isolated confinement. Of course there were some days that beatings just happened because the master or schoolmaster was in a bad mood. These days he tried to draw as little attention to himself as possible.
It was not long after that his mother passed and he was orphaned, the workhouse parish gaining ownership over his life. He thought that there might not be any relief for him now, that he may have to stop hoping for anything good to come until a man came looking to buy and apprentice. The man might have looked fairly young if it had not been for the numerous amounts of scaring he seemed to carry on his body. He wanted a strong lad with a quick mind and reflexes, one that was not too young and could learn quickly. By this time D was about fourteen. Each boy was questioned by the man until he came to D. He could remember the man looking him over first and staring at his eyes for signs of anything. D showed no fear and stared back blankly and guardedly. He could remember the man asking if he wanted to leave this place, D responding with a 'very much so.' The next question had been if he was willing to fight in order to leave. It took a moment for D to respond, as if thinking over his life here and what had been before that he lost before he responded with a 'yes.'
By the next day D was gone from the workhouse, having been bought by the man for apprenticeship. The man, he became known as Vladimir, taught D first how to survive on his own before moving onto fighting. D learned how to fight armed with a sword, unarmed, and even with a firearm, which he found to be highly inaccurate. During his training he could remember being asked if he believed in vampires and if he was afraid of them. He could remember wondering why and mostly shrugging the question away with the answer that if one came to kill him he would do his best to fight and kill it if he had to. Vladimir seemed satisfied with this answer and nodded in thought before returning to the training at hand with D. It was not until D was about nineteen that he would have his first real test against that which Vladimir was training him for.
The vampire they faced was a wild thing, looking to kill and drain everything dry if he could. D had been stunned this first time, all of what to do leaving him in an instant and leaving him open for attack. Vladimir had already begun the assault, yelling at D to wake him up from his stunned trance just in time to move away from the vampire's attack on him. D found his muscle memory taking over a bit, instinct guiding his movements and his sword as he parried and blocked what the vampire tried to hit him with. He could remember pain in his side as he was wounded, the vampire seeming to go into more of a frenzy at that point. Vladimir had seemed to be holding back a little, as if he had planned this attack out to see if D was really up to it. The young D was getting tired from his injury as well as constantly blocking at parrying. He went on the offensive to push the vampire back, waging his own personal war against the being now as the battle intensified. He seemed to lose himself in this battle, coming out of it when he stabbed the vampire through the heart before withdrawing the blade and slashing the beings head off. This was his first hunt, but it would be far from his last.
This lifestyle went on until D was about twenty-three. Vladimir set him out on his own now, satisfied that he had enough experience to take care of himself and decided to get another apprentice for himself in hopes of expanding the vampire hunter numbers. He advised D to keep in contact with him and the other hunters they had met during his apprenticeship, saying that they would always be there to look out for him. It was at this time that D went back to his family's farm, sneaking onto the land and finding his horse that he had left long ago. The stallion seemed to remember him a little and allowed him close. D could see that he had bred quite a few foals over the time of his absence from the log books kept nearby. His uncle had seemed to be doing well, but it seemed like his beloved horse was no longer breeding much and would probably be sold soon. With a pat on the horse's nose he saddled the stallion and rode away, leaving some bit of money behind for his uncle to find in place of the horse.
When D reached the age of twenty-five his life changed forever. While on the road with his horse he stumbled upon the site of what seemed like a small battle. There were many men sprawled across the ground, among them a young boy and a familiar face: Vladimir. Closing his eyes he let the anger and sorrow wash over him before hearing something close by moving. He got his sword ready and as soon as the being appeared he charged, the tip of his blade seeking the vampire's heart. But the vampire was quick and easily dodged. He could vaguely remember the creature telling him it was not him who did this and that the culprit was actually one which he was searching for, but D's anger would not allow him to listen. D could only vaguely remember the battle itself, knowing that he sustained many injuries due to his reckless anger before he finally fell. As the vampire towered over him with a look of pity he could remember hearing it speak: 'Perhaps you need to learn a lesson of perspective. Maybe when that lesson is learned you will find me again.' After that everything went black and D fell unconscious.
When D awoke he found himself inside of an abandoned building, the moon being out and shining through the windows. He realized that it was the next night as the battle had been further into the night than it was when he woke. Getting up he found himself changed, he could feel the differences in himself and he could feel the rage within him growing. Picking up his blade his grip tightened on the hilt of the sword before replacing it back to its place on his back. Outside the building he found his horse which he quickly mounted and rode back to the devastation he last remembered being surrounded by. Upon reaching the bodies he quickly located Vladimir, staying by him for a time in order to come to terms with his death and to ask for forgiveness for failing him. With little left to do he took the pendent that was around Vladimir's neck, a round blue gem imbedded into the metal of the pendent. For the rest of the night he dug a grave site for the men there, burying each in silent contemplation.
When he was finally finished with the burial process and well rested he went on his way, traveling only at night and growing more accustomed to traveling in the shadow. He tried to seek help from his fellow hunters, but they all shunned him, only giving him a warning that the next time they saw him they would be forced to hunt him down and kill him. This only hardened his heart more and he started avoiding all hunters. D was still filled with rage, always lurking deep within him. It was this rage that fueled him for the next century in hunting down any vampire he could find and killing it. As that century of a rage-filled crusade ended he could feel his rage begin to dwindle down as hopelessness began to take over. For another twenty years he found himself just wandering around, trying to find a place for himself.
Finally he decided to leave that place, try to start a new life for himself elsewhere. He found passage on a boat headed for North America. The traveling took little time in comparison with what he had lived thus far. When the boat reached land he discovered he had gotten to New York. He left the boat when evening was upon him and the sun sunk below the horizon. From there he did freelance work, mostly in such things as bounty hunting, whether it be vampire or human, for the next twenty years. Of course, once other hunters suspected he was a vampire himself they began to grow suspicious. At that point he would leave and look for a different place to base his hunting. When he exhausted all places he could hunt with little suspicion he moved onto something else. For a short time he found work with a detective, taking the night shifts which the detective could not. This held him for a while until he left that line of work after about nine years.
The next forty years was filled with monotonous working which he only did to make money. He moved quite a bit around the country after that, doing more bounty hunting now that he was largely forgotten and traveling so much. D did this for about fifty more years before finally returning to New York once more and getting an apartment. Being away for some time he explored the city extensively through the next few nights until he was familiar with the changes once more. D still thought upon that night which turned his life to solely living during the night. He had to wonder when he would next see that vampire and what he would do now that his rage was gone and he was far calmer and wiser. He would probably remain unsure of his response until that time came when they met once more. For now he was back in New York and living from the money he had made over the years until he found something else to do, the passing years causing him to wonder how meaningful his life was and fearing for the answer. There had to be something greater in store for him, D just had to keep believing that.

EXPLAIN YOURSELF: Alice made me come. My character was inspired by Vampire Hunter D who I thought was cool to make here.
MEMBER TITLE: The Ex-Hunter
EXAMPLE:
Ireth was probably a special maiden among her people. It was also her past which helped her become the fighter she was today in combination with her father's protectiveness of her. Her mother wanted her to be like many other elf maidens, knowing some of the more gentle and feminine arts. Being that it was her mother's wish, and she could not deny enjoying much of it, she had learned art and music as well as writing. It was not like she did not have time to learn what her mother wanted her to, she was an elf after all. At the same time it was her father that pressed the issue of being able to defend herself. And while he probably did not intend for it to go this far so that she would be fighting for most of her maturing life it was just how it ended up. Even more than writing and art she was good at wielding a sword. Her archery could use a bit more work by elven standards, but duel swords she was exceptional at wielding. It was also these skills which remained with her from her father and she would honor him by continuing to use them. And while she excelled in those subjects there was still room for error in her ways. One being that she was poor with remembering the lessons of history which she had not experienced and she could be better in more social situations.
More of a smirk appeared on her lips at his words, more in place to cover the slight blush that appeared at his compliment. Being alone for much of her recent life had left her with little practice of receiving compliments, but she pretended that she was use to it, or at least tried to for the most part. “Indeed, if I were so helpless it would be rather silly of me to draw so much attention to myself,” she said jokingly, “if that were the case then it was fortunate for me that one as capable as you would have found me first. Otherwise I may have met my end this day.” It had been a while since she could joke around like this, but she would be glad for it if she thought about it. When his next question came from him Ireth had to pause and her smirk was a bit lost as she looked thoughtful. It was true that traveling alone could lead to death, though if one were careful it was a good way to not draw attention at the same time. It had it's pros and cons in other words. Even so, that was not the reason behind why she did it. His next words halted her coming explanation though as she nodded a bit, rising and collecting a good amount of wood to use for the fire. When she finished she placed the wood down near the spot the fire would go before looking back to Legolas for a moment in thought. “It isn't customary for my people to travel alone either,” she said quietly, “but I suppose I could be considered a bit odd and unusual anyway in terms of living like a normal elven maiden.”
As she spoke she began to clear a place for the fire before starting to stack the wood appropriately. “I enjoy moving around, ever since I was very young. I suppose I use scouting as an excuse to move about. As for being alone.. Well..” She had to pause after that, trying to figure out exactly how to explain it without really going into much detail. Ireth had paused in her movements for a moment as she organized her thoughts. “I suppose it's probably because it can be a little tiresome to be around people for me at times. It's just easier sometimes to be alone.” It was close enough as an answer. She knew that she could not stay away from everyone her whole life, especially since it was unlikely she would die anytime soon since she was immortal. She supposed being someone who could fight and chose to do so might increase the odds of her death, but as far as anything else causing her to die anytime soon was just improbable. Still, she was young and death was something that did not go over well with anyone if it concerned their loved ones, but she knew she would live through it and things would get better with time. Already she could feel time was healing her slowly and she would soon be back to being more like a regular young elf again, perhaps. Of course, more companions like Legolas would probably speed that healing process up a little bit. After all, healing from an event like that usually went better if there was someone there to reach out for support rather than being alone.
