Standing at only 5'10", Ben is not exactly the most intimadating presence and it's quite surprising for most to find out that he could be a coven leader. It does work to his advantage though, his build makes him much agile than the normal Valen. His dark, brown hair is typically kept short but it does vary depending on what he feels like. He's not too good at hiding his emotions and it's quite clearly reflected in his grey eyes but typically he has an amused look in his eyes which only goes to show his take on life. His general appearance doesn't help matters much either. Despite practically running the entertainment/music industry, Ben refuses to dress the part of a professional. Most likely he'll be found in a pair of black jeans, band t-shirts and worn-out Vans/Converse, along with a hat of some sort. If it wasn't for his status, he could easily pass for any other street punk. When he has no choice, Ben will dress up but his standards still vary quite a bit from the "norm". It's strange not seeing Ben with a woman by his side, his taste for women changes everyday.

Like the typical Valen, he has numerous tattoos that he enjoys showing off. Several of these are from his human life that have just been touched up over the years. He has an entire sleeve down his right arm that includes an angel holding a dagger, falling leaves, and the phrase "Bless me to and from my destination." On his left arm there are scattered tattoos that include the word "Pals" on the inside of his wrist, a heart with a banner that reads "Friends Family Music" on his forearm, three arrows with the words "White Sparrows" on the other side of his forearm and his last name written across his upper arm. The words "never give up" are written in a semicircle below his collarbone and the Valen symbol is tattooed on the base of his neck.

WEAPONRY:

Though he rarely ever resorts to fighting with weapons, Ben does carry around a Polish-made Vis pistol (9mm, single-action, semi-automatic) that he acquired in World War II. He also has two butterfly knives, one is made of titanium while the other is a custom made, stainless steel blade. Both knives are kept in his back pocket and the gun is tucked in his waistband.

EQUIPMENT:

Other than his weapons, Ben travels pretty light. He carries around a wallet, a case of cigarettes, lighter and a cellphone.

ABILITY:

While it's more annoying than anything, Ben possess the ability to see memories through drinking human blood as well as vampire blood. Like drinking vampire blood, the longer Ben drink, the further back the memories go. For this reason, Ben rarely ever drains a human completely.

Though he may not be every woman's first pick, it's Ben's stereotypical Valen personality that gets him what he wants. All he's after is to make the best of his immortal life which includes indulging himself in every luxury and sin. He's an outgoing person to begin with and with an ego that begs for attention, he enjoys his partying lifestyle. Both incredibly witty and charming, it is incredibly easy for Ben to lure women into bed. Most of his life revolves around sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll and when he's not overseeing his company, the rest of his time is spent in Pulse. Rarely does he ever go around with out at least one woman on his arm. His general attitude towards everything is a reckless, just-do-it type of approach except when it comes to his coven and company. Those are the only two things in which Ben will actually take the time to consider decisions that will both influence and alter the future course of the coven. He does however enjoy speaking his mind and while this does get him into trouble every now and then, he is hardly one to care.

Being the person of status he is, Ben is used to getting what he wants and when things don't work out in his favor, he can be quite the brat. He carries around a very childlike and immature air around him and very rarely does he take things seriously. Though Ben's bound to have many enemies around, there are very few people he actually considers to be a foe. Most of the time, he hardly recognizes when somebody is offended by him because it's more amusing to him than anything. To the few that he does consider to be an enemy, Ben is quite capable of holding grudges and he's not one to apologize for his mistakes. On the other hand, he'll defend his 'friends' quite readily. As a coven leader, he's a little more concious of his public image. He will do just about anything to defend the rights of his coven and will go to great lengths to protect them. While his business tactics aren't exactly orthodox, Ben does what he has to keep the coven alive.

If there's one thing that can keep Ben distracted though, it's women. He'll hit on just about anything of the female nature, human or vampire. It's his narcissistic nature that causes him to fear rejection and he's simply just not used to it. After his previous human life, Ben doesn't believe in long term relationships and prefers to have short flings and one-night stands. He won't admit it but Ben's afraid of committing himself to a relationship where he could possibly get hurt. His family's death has left him incapable of truly loving anybody.

HISTORY:

Born as Benedykt Jakub Kanst in what is now current day Poland, the only child of Kamila and Aleksander Kanst was raised in a normal life. Like his father, he grew up working in the bakery his family ran. Growing up in the village, one of Benedykt's best friends was a girl named Aurelia. She was the daughter of the village's blacksmith and the Kanst's family's close friends. The two of them spent most of their days together, wandering around and exploring. With their curious nature, the two were well known for getting into trouble. Even in their teens, the pair remained close and with a bit of It was only natural when the two grew up, Benedykt sought to court her and the two were married in 1777. A year later, Aurelia was pregnant with twins and four years later, the couple welcomed another boy into the family.

Things were going well for the family but for their country, things were not. Only a decade before Napoleon was poised to make his appearance and tensions were rising in the European nation. In 1788, the family was going through another normal day when a group of drunk Russian soldiers decided to make a show of power. The Kanst family house was first on the soldiers path. Ben was outside when they stormed the house and never saw the attack coming. Tied up, he was helpless as they killed his eight-year-old son before moving onto the twins. He could only watch as Aurelia and the twins were tortured. It was only hours later that their misery was ended and Ben was the only one left alive, barely. Just as they were about to kill Ben, the wife of leader of the group took pity on him and convinced the group to leave him alone. After burning the village down, the woman came back, identified herself as Amber. At this point, Ben was already in shock and nearing unconsciousness. It seemed the very little time she had spent was enough to draw her attention to Ben and when he awoke again, they were far from his homeland.

But despite the fact that Amber had saved Ben's life, he ignored strange alluring nature of the woman. Little did he know that Amber was far from human and the vampire did not take well to being ignored. Unknown to Ben, the woman who had taken such a keen interest in him was the second-in-command for the Valen coven. Still stunned by the loss of his family, he was at a loss for how to deal with Amber and her attempts to pull Ben into the aristocratic French life. Even after she turned him, Ben's loyalty to his family remained strong and Amber soon grew frustrated with her attempts to make him into a Valen. But the burden of being a newborn was not one he could deal with alone and left with no choice, Ben reluctantly followed Amber around. In addition, he soon discovered that drinking human blood would trigger flashes of the victims memories. He's unsure of how this happens but he believes it to have something to do with his strong connection to his human side after being turned.

Amber made it far too easy to slip into the life of a Valen. After his turning, Amber was made head of the Valen coven and naturally, Ben was in her favor. It was far easier to forget and seek pleasure than anything. He followed Amber like a lost puppy and the two returned back to France. But their definition of fun seemed to differe from each other and the two split up shortly before the first World War. When the new France became more popular, he moved to Canada where he then westernized his name to Benjamin James Kanst. He soon grew to love Canada and considered it his home. During the second World War, Ben fought briefly against the Germans alongside his French and Polish comrades just to experience the thrill of war. His Valen roots kept him from enjoying the battle though and Ben returned to North American where he then traveled around the United States.

By the nineties, he had fallen into the punk rock scene. Being a vampire, it was far too easy for him to keep up with the partying, drugs and alcohol. His passion for music was drawn out and Ben joined with a group of other vampires from his coven to form a band. Good-looking and talented, the band shot to fame after their first CD. Two more CD's were released as the band continued to tour. After their first CD, Ben decided it would be best for them to break away from their current label and start their own. It soon became known as Talent Records. The release of their third CD marked the bands return to New York.In a matter of a few years, the company grew to Talent Entertainment and Records and became the new threat in the entertainment/music industry.Once they were back in New York, Ben learned about the rise of a new group that was kidnapping hunters and vampires. In the interest of his coven, he placed the band on hiatus to help matters in New York. His way with words and natural leadership brought him to his coven leader status. The last two years have been stressful for him as he tries to grow into his leader role and protect his coven's ways.
