hole in the world
POST APOCALYPTIC RPG WITH A TWIST, SET AFTER WWIII.
i'm sure you can remember the first zombie film you watched, or the first x-men comic you ever read, and the first dream you had where you could fly and shoot laserbeams out of your eyes - well, the year is 2014, and if you're one of the survivors, then you can probably do something...strange. world war three began in 2012. nobody can really say what started it, not really, though some say it was down to oil, the black gold of the world. what we are certain of, however, is that russia teamed up with japan to create the 'walking death' as it would later be translated to in english. bombs containing this highly unstable and mutagenic virus were dropped in washington, texas, new york, and several other areas of the united states, and as far as we know, the world. whole towns and cities were in absolute chaos. the virus acted much faster than even its creators could have predicted. it worked on the human body so quickly that it caused the ill to rush right past death and into undeath. the higher functionality of the brain died, but the body continued on and hungered for the one thing it no longer possessed. those that were caught directly in blast zones were changed into these creatures, insatiable and thoughtless in nature with no reasoning power or discernible intelligence. a good portion of america's population was devoured within the first several months of exposure and it appeared as though those who hadn't been turned into zombies by the virus were completely unharmed. this was a mistake. normal is not a word that can be associated with these people, for more reasons than one. some found that they could teleport a short distance, leaving all of their clothes behind. others discovered they were different when they found themselves capable of opening portals, healing their own papercuts, or accidentally absorbing a friend's hand. it seems these people make up much of the remaining population of north america. their survival could have something to do with their powers or it could be plain dumb luck, but either way, it's them against the world now.
