As the unidentified, now confirmed vampire, made her escape, the team of agents released a barrage of UV bullets in all directions. Each projectile sped out of the barrels of the specially designed guns, possessing a frightening velocity and imbedded several tens of rounds into the side of the clock tower. Each bullet erupted in magnificent flourishes of light, giving the tower the vision of being consumed by light. Kara smashed into the lanky young man attempting to inject her with the hypo. The pair flew, the man remembering his retrieval training.
He latched himself around the woman’s nearly nude body as they flew through the air toward the rocky shore. His computerized suit recognized the velocity as terminal and engaged AEGIS just as they were about to smack into a boulder. The circuits under his suit glowed a dull white as they projected a powerful barrier of kinetic energy. The barrier, now a translucent sphere around the pair, smashed into the bounder, breaking it into four distinct pieces. As the shield dissipated, the man began to fall several short feet. He very quickly and acrobatically adjusted the unconscious woman and himself to allow him to land gracefully on his feet. The other hypo had been broken in the collision, so the man withdrew another and whipped the Teryn leader around, holding her by her neck as she limply flopped about. He located the bundle of nerves at the base of her neck and jammed the needle into it, injecting several CC’s of the substance into her. Immediately, the flesh began to quiver and glow a similar orange. Her veins popped out, thrilled by the presence of the mystery liquid.
A familiar voice cracked and popped to life in the man’s sleek, black helmet.
“AGENT MCCORVEY! Are you all right? Sensors indicate that FOUR agents in the area have recently expired. Due to the projected data, I have equipped your MICRO SUB 5000 with a MACRO strength FLASHBOMB. Please load all live personnel and arrested suspects into your emergency transport before engaging scuttle protocols, as your location is now deemed HIGHLY DANGEROUS. Your coordinates have been entered into a queue for: ORBITAL BOMBARDMENT. The current wait time for the Armageddon Cannon is: INDEFINITE. Artillery bombardment is available in: TWENTY MINUTES. Please allow proper time for administration to confirm orders for military strength retaliation…
Please hold…
INCOMING TRANSMISSION:”
A familiar and terrifying face popped up on the screen inside of Agent McCorvey’s helmet.
“MCCORVEY! What happened over there? Is that? You have Kara Aldridge? Bring her to the lab immediately. You’ve earned yourself commendations.” Gwyn’s face flicked off the screen and the sensitive glass returned full visibility to the agent. Engaging his gravity pack, the man hovered over to the scene of carnage, his remaining brothers in arms already strapping potent incendiaries to the dead. The veteran agent looked up at him holding the nearly nude and bloodied Kara.
“McCorvey! Get a gene tonic into that girl! She’s practically bleeding dry. Glad to see you’re alive soldier, we were just about to look for you so we could obliterate the remains.” The harsh voiced older man slapped McCorvey on the back, giving a hearty chuckle at his expense. The sleek miniature submarine broke the surface and bobbed silently by the pier. Its nightmarish, black design was wonderful for stealthily extracting agents in the field. The remaining agents filed into the submarine, flipping and jumping like gymnasts into the small aperture.
McCorvey withdrew another hypo, the words “SPLICER: CELLULAR REGEN” etched into the glass along the long chamber. He jammed it into Kara’s neck and pressed down on the lever, tossing the empty hypo to the ground and boarding he submarine.
Before the FEAR agents departed, a large canon emerged from the water. Lazarus targeting systems predicted the perfect arch for the large black sphere to travel. The cannon fired, the sound softened by using pressurized air instead of combustion to launch it into the air. The submarine sank under the water as the sphere crashed against the bloody scene. Napalm washed over the area and the bodies like the cruel hand of destruction, igniting the entire area with a hellish immolation.
